]]> This December, several Northland employees volunteered their time at The Greater Boston Food Bank to help fill 6,958 grocery bags of food for the non-profit’s Brown Bag Program. This program helps supply seniors with nutritious grocery items such as milk, cheese, ground turkey, yogurt, spinach, carrots, dried fruit, spaghetti, peanut butter and cereal. These bags, weighing roughly 15 pounds each, will be distributed to seniors living in Lynn, MA.

 

1 in 5 senior citizens living in Eastern Massachusetts struggles with food insecurity. The Greater Boston Food Bank’s Brown Bag Program provides free groceries to over 8,500 seniors in need each month, ensuring they receive the nutritious food needed to stay healthy. ]]> Thirty of our home office employees volunteered at The Greater Boston Food Bank,  where they spent the morning sorting and packing food. They packed 11,830 pounds of food, which will help provide 9,838 meals to families throughout the Greater Boston area.

The Greater Boston Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization in New England and among the largest food banks in the country.  Last year, they distributed nearly 62 millions pounds of nutritious food to people who are food insecure.  To learn more about the food bank and how you can help, visit https://www.gbfb.org/
