40th Anniversary GalaFrom its humble beginnings on Three Degree Road, Northland has grown over the years from a collection of 16,000 books to over 200,000 items, including books, CDs, DVDs, magazines --plus providing access to more than 40 online databases and more than three dozen public computers, and from a staff of seven to over 85 full and part-time employees. Though Northland may have grown in size, their core values remain the same: to enable, empower and encourage a lifelong journey of learning and discovery.
In celebration of the Library's 40th anniversary, the Foundation is sponsoring a gala with the theme, "Oh the Places You'll Go!" Culminating a year-long series of activities highlighting the Library’s 40 years of service to the community, the event is scheduled for Friday, November 21, 2008 at the Four Points Sheraton and will accommodate up to 300 attendees. The evening event is scheduled from 6:30 pm- 9:30 pm and will include teacup and silent auctions, followed by dancing. The highlight of the evening will be featured keynote speaker, Paul O’Neill, who served as the 72nd Secretary of the U.S. Treasury, as well as CEO of Alcoa, and chairman of the Rand Corporation. Mr. O'Neill's personal story of rising from small town boy from Anchorage, Alaska to the heights of such a venerable office will underscore the evening's theme.
